The United States Geological Survey reported two earthquakes with preliminary magnitudes of 2.9 and 2.6 struck near Danville on Friday evening.

 The first quake hit at 8:43 p.m. at a depth of 7 kilometers. That was followed by a second slightly smaller temblor at a depth of 6 kilometers at 8:44 p.m.

 There was no initial word on damage or injury resulting from the quake. More information on this earthquake is available on the USGS event page.
